Is tallow good for skin?
Tallow is chemically similar to the fats naturally found in human skin, which is part of why it has been used in traditional skincare for centuries. It is rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, and contains a fatty acid profile that closely mirrors sebum. Formulated correctly, tallow-based balms support the skin barrier rather than sitting on top of it like many mineral-oil-based products.
Tallow is not a cure, a treatment, or a medical intervention. It is a functional cosmetic ingredient. Any brand claiming it treats eczema, psoriasis, acne or other skin conditions is making a claim UK cosmetics law does not permit, and you should be sceptical of it
